This study aims to find out if there are people who still use medicinal plants especially in Brgy. Barra inorder to cope up their personal needs. The researcher conducted the c\surcye by picking randomly two households in every zone in Brgy. Barra in a total of twenty respondents that are surveyed. The researcher used a questionaire consisting of two sets of questionaire based on the answer in the first question. Base on tha data gathered, out of twenty respondents, there are only nine households who grow herbal plants in their home and there are eleven respondents who do not grow herbal plants in their home. Most of the herbal plants they grow in their home are the common ones like the Calabo, Talisay, Malunggay, Lagundi and Ginseng. The common reasons why they planted herbal plants are inorder to cure illness; so that they could get more vitamins and minerals; so that they could mix these herbal plants with their food and so that they could use the extract to make a juice. Out of twenty respondents, twelve respondents prefer to use medicinal plants than to use commercial medicines while eight respondents prefer to use commercial medicines than to use medicinal plants. I therefore conclude that few people of Brgy. Barra are growing herbal plants while many people do not grow herbal plants but more people prefer using medicinal plants and less people prefer commercial medicines. I also conclude that Brgy. Barra is a good place to grow herbal plants.

Chapter II

Herbal plants have been used for thousand years. Many people rely on the herbal plants and spend billions just to buy herbal medicines. Despite this, many people, still, do not know the safety and effectivenees of the herbal plants. In the early human history, people practiced hebal medicines as amagical and religious healing art. This was the reason why herbology developed. As time goes by, Botanical Medicines was known in the western side of the continent. This was the reason why Chinese immigrantshad added their own herbal tradition to mix especially on the west coast. But after that civil war, herbology began to lose influence because conventional medicines improved during the war.
By the beggining of 20th century, Chemists had become more adept at isolating the active ingredients in plants. In 1910, there was a report passed and because of this report, it elevated the pharmaceutical medicines and was critical of schools that taught herbal medicines and other nonconventional approaches. This report contributed greatly to the decline of alternative medicines.
Today, modern pharmaceutical cannot treat every condition effectively and some drugs have unwanted side effects. Because of this, many people began to seek alternatives and order herbal preparations in health food stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, and even department stores. Because of the lack of knowledge in herbal medicines, people do not know how to use herbal plants and use their own inorder to determine it. However, some herbs also have potentially harmful side effects that is why it's important to understand the full range of their biological activity and talk to a physician.
